    ECCNPCT Vacancies: Join Us!

    The East César Chavez Neighborhood Plan Contact Team is recruiting new members to fill several open seats on our Leadership Team. Vacancies include:

    • Four Residential Reps (in Sectors 2, 4, 5, and 8)
    • One Renter Rep
    • One Non-profit/Civic Rep
    • One Business Rep

    Members of the ECCNPCT are Austin residents who live in, work in, or own property within the established East Cesar Chavez Neighborhood (ECC) boundaries.

    The ECCNPCT serves as stewards and advocates of the East Cesar Chavez Neighborhood Plan. Learn more about us here; general information about City of Austin contact teams is available here.

    Applicants for ECCNPCT leadership team membership must have attended at least 2 meetings within the 6-month period preceding an application for membership. Preference is given to residents and other eligible stakeholders who are involved in community organizations and/or neighborhood activities; informed about neighborhood issues; and display leadership potential. Members typically serve two-year (24-month) terms or more. Our bylaws provide more information about membership eligibility requirements and responsibilities.

    To apply for a team leadership vacancy, please complete and submit an application to ECCNPCT Chair Kristen Heaney.

    We are also recruiting non-voting members for ECCNPCT Action Committees, including our Affordable Housing, Crime and Safety, Historic Preservation, Land Use, Traffic and Transportation committees. If you are interested in joining a committee, contact the respective committee chair or your sector representative to learn about opportunities to get involved.

    Volunteer Opportunities with The Trail Foundation

    The Trail Foundation invites ECC community members to participate in bi-weekly volunteer work sessions involving both ecological restoration work and trash clean-up.     Festival Beach Community Garden Has Plots Available!

    Festival Beach Community Garden (FBGC) currently has garden plots available for rent! FBGC consists of over 80 dedicated gardeners and volunteers who have come together to build community in the garden with the goal of improving the food security, health, and happiness of the residents of the East Cesar Chavez and Holly neighborhoods.

    September 24 ECC Neighborhood Plan Rezoning Meetings- all invited & encouraged to attend!

    The City of Austin is sponsoring an ECC community meeting at 6pm on Thursday, September 24 to provide an opportunity for the applicants requesting a zoning change, the neighborhood planning contact team, and nearby residents/property owners to discuss the applicants’ proposed plan amendment and zoning change requests. An English/Spanish flyer providing meeting details is available here. 

    Following the community-led meetings, the ECCNPCT will hold a special meeting at 8pm to vote on whether to support each project. 

    Applicants Fair Market and Centro East are requesting a Plaza Saltillo TOD plan amendment to change the base height, or max height allowable, from 65 to 85 feet. The Fair Market office project is located at 1100 E. 5th St.; the Centro East office/residential project is located at 1501 E. 6th St. (between E. 5th and 6th Streets from Navasota to Onion).
