Go Repair! A Home Repair program

Eligible repairs will be limited to health/safety risks with priority to property owners earning less than 50% MFI, more rules apply. Repairs limited to these types of repairs:

· Accessibility modifications,

· Electrical, plumbing, mechanical repairs,

· Exterior siding repair,

· Window and door repairs/replacements,

· Minimal drywall and flooring repair,

· Ceiling fans in bedrooms and living room,

· Painting as related to repairs, and

· Roof repairs.

FREE AFFORDABLE HOUSING GUIDE IS AWESOME!

Many thanks to the Austin Tenants’ Council for updating their Affordable Housing Guide and making the 48 page Guide free to those who need help finding a safe, decent and affordable place to live.  You can pick up a Guide at their offices or download a PDF version from their website. The Austin Tenants’ Council has been in our neighborhood for 37 years and is one of our most valuable community assets.  Services are available to help both landlords and renters resolve disputes.  Their website has all kinds of info about laws, referrals, and resources and includes free forms useful to renters, roommates, and owners of rental property.

Ventanilla de Salud: Connecting you to Health!

Visit or call the Ventanilla de Salud at the Mexican Consulate to learn about free and low-cost health resources in the community.  We promote preventative health, especially for those without health insurance or access to health care.  We connect you to low-cost clinics, free classes and workshops for diabetes, nutrition and more, and offer free on-site health screenings throughout the month.  Call for dates of free cholesterol screenings in January and February.

FREE January Screenings:

Friday, January 7, 9:00am-12:00pm

Free HIV testing.  Results in 20 minutes from a saliva sample (no needles used). 

Information on prevention of HIV, Hepatitis C, and access to care for those affected by the illness.

Wednesday, January 19, 9:00am-12:00pm

Free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings.  Enrollment into free diabetes prevention and management classes.

Friday, January 21, 9:00am-12:00pm
